I refer to Luigi as the Michelangelo of cement, directing a team of very experienced and skillful employees whose sole business is cement and whose work is of such high quality that passersby comment approvingly and ask for business cards. Think about that: who gets compliments on their nice, new cement? On every level I found Luigi himself a pleasure to do business with. He is candid, honest, dependable, very knowledgeable about his craft, and an excellent communicator. His crew works one jobsite at a time so he can supervise them closely and protect pedestrians from potential hazards. As with all home improvements, it is best to be specific, clear, and detailed to avoid misunderstandings; contractors are not mind readers. A good test of their quality and integrity is how they handle the unexpected hiccups that do occur; in that regard, Luigi is among the best I have ever dealt with. 

Description of Work

The brick base of our front stoop had deteriorated, and the concrete between the top limestone slabs was all cracked. Stoop needed to be rebuilt. We ended up with a brick base that closely matched the existing brick of the house, with a bluestone top that looks great with the existing slate on our walkway.

Luigi came by twice - first to give us an initial estimate, and then to answer more questions about our options if we chose not to replicate what was there before. We felt he was honest and not pushy when we asked about bluestone vs reproducing the slate mosaic we currently had. He had a book of previous projects which helped us decide what would work with our 90 year old house. Job was done in one day as promised and looks beautiful!

Very good experience! Leading up to the job, Luigi periodically kept us informed on scheduling (each day of rain postpones all work for a day, and we had a rainy July). Then, he and his men performed the work, which included installing a new fence, in a very structured way -- section by section over several days. Luigi also suggested and added a couple of creative touches, such as a gently curved walkway (we had planned it as straight, with no design) leading from the driveway to both our front steps and the main walkway (see below). He even accommodated our need for a way to get our dog out to the street multiple times each day, even as access to our two entrances was ever-changing. The finished product looks outstanding, and has really enhanced our home and property. 

 If you're looking for an honest cement contractor, look no further. I signed a contract for $3200 with Luigi, giving him $1600 cash as a down payment. I get by on just my social security retirement check and after realizing that it would be difficult for me to afford this work, I called Luigi. 

 Luigi was very nice about it and promised a full refund. At the time given, Luigi appeared with the full $1600 in hand.
